We’re delighted to bring Box Concerts back for another summer of live outdoor music! Book a concert for your home, and treat your family, friends and neighbours to an opera and musical theatre performance on our charming traveling stage. Box Concerts are available every weekend throughout the summer, and are the perfect addition or reason for a family get-together or celebration.

WHAT IS A BOX CONCERT?

A 30-minute musical performance, presented on a travelling stage that comes to you. Suitable for the whole family, and available for residences in the City of Toronto.

Welcome to United with Ukraine, our first concert in two and a half years, and the finale to our 38th season. While it is a pleasure to gather again to play beautiful music for you, we also reflect on the fact that so many people in the world cannot enjoy an evening such as this. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine. To honour their courage and determination, we dedicate this concert to them.

Oksana - "Oksana G"

Oksana G. is the story of Oksana, a young Ukrainian woman lured into the world of sex trafficking by a recruiter who unexpectedly falls in love with her. Oksana escapes to a refugee shelter in Brindisi, Italy, where she finds herself entangled in a battle to regain her own strength. With a fierce heroine battling overwhelming odds, Oksana G. challenges operatic conventions and offers an uncompromising portrayal of human trafficking. Led by acclaimed director Tom Diamond (Iron Road, The Shadow) and rising-star conductor Jordan de Souza (M’dea Undone, Rocking Horse Winner), this opera is staged in the Imperial Oil Opera Theatre. With the power of a full orchestra and chorus, Oksana G. is Tapestry Opera’s most significant endeavor in over 15 years.

Our annual popular Christmas Concert is held in early January as part of the celebrations for Canadians of Ukrainian descent. Joined by its partner, the Toronto Ukrainian Male Chamber Choir, this year’s program will feature traditional and contemporary Ukrainian Christmas carols and New Year’s songs accompanied by a chamber orchestra. Orchestral arrangements were written by prominent Canadian composer Eric Robertson, as well as Ukrainian Canadian composer Zenoby Lawryshyn and Ukrainian composer Victor Stepurko. Guest artists include sopranos Natalya Matyusheva and Katherine Semcesen and tenor Justin Stolz, with narration provided by Lada Darewych. A reception will follow, where choristers have an opportunity to meet with members of the audience to celebrate the Christmas season together.
